At the request of all the Gods, Mother Durga took the form of Devi Pratyangira and subdued both with her fierce form and thunderous roar. This ended the fierce battle between them and averted the crisis of destruction from the universe. It is believed that thereafter, Maa Pratyangira remained present in this form forever for the protection of her Devotees and the Universe.
